Are you looking for affordable housing options? Do you want to live small? Do you need a starter home? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions (or similar ones), a cabin trailer could be a perfect fit for you!

A cabin trailer is a prefabricated, portable cabin built on a trailer. These cabins tend to be larger than the average tiny home but smaller than a traditional trailer home. Due to space restrictions, cabin trailers don’t exceed 400 square feet (this restriction doesn’t include a loft or porch). 

Before we get too far, let’s address the elephant in the room. 

What comes to your mind when you think of a trailer cabin? If you’re picturing something cheap and flimsy that you might find in a trailer park, you’re not alone. 

Thankfully, the cabin trailers we build here at Lancaster Log Cabins aren’t anything like the prefabricated home stereotype! 

Built with top-quality materials and thoughtful design, these trailer cabins are durable and beautiful. 

Let’s take a closer look at what sets them apart from other prefab homes and cabins. 

  • Turn-key construction

All of LLC’s cabins are turn-key projects. Simply hook up water and sewer (like you would an RV or mobile home), and these lovely cabins are move-in ready! Kitchen appliances and handcrafted furniture (e.g., table and stools, beds, a futon) are included in the price of the home. If you don’t need all the furniture, never fear. Some of the pieces are optional.

  • 100% solid log timber 

LLC’s cabin trailers are built from 100% solid Eastern White Pine. Unlike many other prefab cabins, our cabins require little maintenance and last 50+ years. 

  • Rustic aesthetics 

The solid log construction gives the cabin a homey, rustic aesthetic inside and out. These cabins add to the beauty of any property! 

  • Durable 

As the trailer cabin stereotype suggests, most prefab cabins aren’t made with the quality to last and quickly diminish in value. Because LLC’s park model homes are built with solid wood and designed efficiently, they don’t decrease in value like other mobile homes. 

  • No permits or property taxes

 Because our trailer cabins are classed as RVs, it usually means no permits and property taxes. Always double-check with your local municipality, as requirements can vary. 

  • Great for winter use

Unlike cheaply made cabins, LLC’s trailer cabins hold heat well. This is due to their natural wood construction. Additionally, all water lines are on the inside, so (as long as there’s heat in the cabin) there’s no need to worry about frozen water lines this winter!
